August 12, 2025

As part of its study visit to the United Kingdom, the AnkaTheraHub team held meetings with leading universities, research centers, and technology transfer offices in the fields of health, biotechnology, and environment. These engagements strengthened the team’s knowledge base and institutional capacity.

Within the framework of the AnkaTheraHub Technical Assistance Project, visits were carried out in London, Oxford, and Bristol, enabling the AnkaTheraHub team to gain valuable international experience and paving the way for concrete outcomes that can be transferred to SMEs in Ankara operating in the health sector.

In London, the team visited innovative institutions such as the University of East London, MedCity London, Imperial College London White City Campus, and Imperial Enterprise, observing best practices in digital health, cell and gene therapies, and entrepreneurship. In Oxford, meetings were held with Oxford University Innovation, Oxentia, and BioEscalator, focusing on technology transfer processes, commercialization of academic knowledge, and biotechnology-based start-up support structures. In Bristol, the team met with the University of Bristol School of Chemistry, the Atmospheric Chemistry Research Group, and the Organic Geochemistry Unit to discuss research infrastructures, the relationship between climate change, air quality, and cancer, and the impact of soil and water pollution on health.

The knowledge and experience gained during the visit enabled the AnkaTheraHub team to expand its international cooperation networks and significantly strengthen its institutional capacity. The newly established relationships and strategic partnerships are expected to benefit not only the AnkaTheraHub team but also SMEs in Ankara working in the health field. By integrating the expertise and collaborations developed in the UK into the local entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, AnkaTheraHub aims to facilitate SMEs’ access to international partnerships and enhance their capacity to compete in global markets.
